Self-proclaimed renegade Alison Lloyd created her first capsule collection under British label Ally Capellino in 1980, taking inspiration from the Moscow Olympics of the same year. Since then the label has matured and undergone several transformations to become a strong design-led brand, stocking a range of carefully crafted accessories.
Opened in 2011, Ally Capellino's second store is situated in London’s West End, on the corner of Portobello and Golborne Road. A perfect addition to the already flourishing Notting Hill neighbourhood, the branch is sat in the midst of a lively market and surrounded by an abundance of other local and independent stores.
London-based furniture and interior designer, Rupert Blanchard, is responsible for the store's design and has created a welcoming and warm space filled with natural light. Blanchard used a considered selection of raw materials to create fixtures and fittings to complement Ally Capellino’s seasonal collections; the store's clean and semi-industrial interior was created using salvaged materials including walnut flooring recovered from a school gym and grey enamel lampshades sourced from a disused car factory.
