Opened in 2007 and with three Japanese chefs, Etsu brings the best of Japanese cuisine to Liverpool's City Centre.
A short stroll from the iconic Liver buildings and five minutes from Liverpool’s main shopping district, the secret to Etsu's success lies in their ability to deliver an authentic culinary experience, delivered by Head chef Tatsuya Ueda. Tatsuya started out working at a fishmonger's in Osaka and on his days off he would diligently experiment with sushi; shortly after he started work in a sushi restaurant, regularly turning out 10,000 pieces of sushi in one weekend. Tatsuya moved to Liverpool in 2007 and lists Etsu's sashimi as his best and we're inclined to agree.
The bento boxes are perfect as a lunchtime takeaway and evening meals range from classic Yakimono dishes to Unagi-don (freshwater eel) for those with a more adventurous palette. The drinks list doesn't disappoint and boast ten varieties of Shōchū (a distilled spirit made from barley, sweet potato or rice) as well as a good range of Japanese beers including Asahi on tap.
Make sure you leave room for dessert.
