Nørrebro, the multicultural, young and hip heart of Copenhagen is home to Jægersborggade, a quiet side street freckled with independents. Including a coffee shop, roastery, artisan bakery and a porridge bar, the street is also home to studio and shop of ceramicist Inge Vincent, who opened Keramiker Inge Vincents in 2009 as a space to showcase her delicate handcrafted pottery.
Inge Vincent’s ceramics are primarily designed with texture and shape in mind yet remain functional. With each ceramic piece hand-built or wheel-thrown from the finest translucent porcelain, Vincent’s craft is thoughtfully considered and she creates each item with her own bare hands.
The pieces use the traditional ceramic form as a starting point and the end result is delicate paper thin pottery. Many of Vincent’s designs are solutions to various problems that she has encountered; for example, unable to find a suitable vase for lillies, she created a product slim and long enough to comfortably house the stems. The collection is varied and features one of a kind bowls, vases and cups dotted around the bright and airy store.
The shop itself is tranquil and has a very clean aesthetic; raw and untreated wooden tables and shelving hold the pristine ceramics which are always white; Vincent believes that colour can be ‘disturbing’.
