Located in the heart of Birmingham’s business district is the Great Western Arcade, a covered Grade II listed Victorian shopping arcade lying between Colmore Row and Temple Row. Built over the Great Western Railway in 1874, the Great Western Arcade is a historic and charming retail emporium that hosts independent businesses such as Specialist wine merchants Loki Wines and premium menswear retailer Liquor Store.

Founded in February 2012 by denim enthusiast Phil Hazel, Liquor Store started out as a dream job Hazel visualised as a schoolboy. Having started out in Birmingham's House of Fraser, Hazel has amassed over 15 years of industry experience working for the likes of Tommy Hilfiger, Diesel, Lee Jeans and Wrangler Jeans. Hazels role as Business Development Manager at Lee Jeans allowed Hazel to travel and meet like-minded creatives along the way.

Liquor Store's philosophy lies firmly rooted in heritage denim brands and offering a well-considered selection of fits and wash choices. Inspired by the old jean stores of yesteryear, Liquor store is a denim Mecca, stocking the likes of Levi's Vintage, Edwin Japan, Nudie Jeans Co and Lee 101. Liquor Store's impressive brand list includes a mixture of acclaimed and unknown labels from the U.K. (Brooks England, Gloverall, Universal Works) Scandinavia (Norse Projects, Wood Wood, Sandqvist) and America (Filson, Red Wing Shoes, Pointer Brand).

Easily spotted by its distinctive lightbox that reads 'Liquor Store, Speakeasy', the store space has had many of it's original features restored to keep in line with the architecture of the Victorian Arcade. Reclaimed railway sleepers create an impressive denim wall which includes specialist denim brands Hiut, Tellason, Unbranded and Iron Heart. Footwear is also displayed on sleepers, while a ladder originally used to access the cellar now displays seasonal accessories in-store.

The combination of quality clothing and friendly service makes Liquor Store a must-visit in Birmingham along with nearby neighbours Yorks Espresso Bar, The Church Inn, Peel & Stone Bakery and The Plough.
