Sheffield-based menswear label Mamnick was founded in April 2012 by fine art graduate Thom Barnett, whose frustrated efforts to find well-fitting shirting resulted in him making his own. Encouraged by two Japanese friends, Thom started by making a limited collection of products in small production runs in accordance with his philosophy "Do one thing at a time, as beautiful as possible".
Avid-cyclist Thom named Mamnick (pronounced 'Mam' 'Nick') after the road that leaves Hope valley and begins it's steady ascent of Mam Tor. Drawing inspiration from the Peak District and nearby surroundings; products adopt the names of local cycling routes, roads and landmarks while nearly all of Mamnick's manufacturing processes and inventory are made in South Yorkshire.
Manufactured in the UK and Japan, the Mamnick collection includes beautifully made shirting, handmade footwear and the 'Made in Sheffield' steel collection, inspired by Barnett's grandfather Eric, who spent his career in Sheffield’s famous steel industry. Mamnick's infancy hasn't prevented Thom from collaborating with leading brands such as Rapha, Six Eight Seven Six and Clarks Originals.
Opting for Tokyo over Sheffield to launch its first flagship, the Mamnick bricks-and-mortar store located in Meguro-ku presents the labels seasonal, Black and 'Made in England' collections. Alongside Mamnick is a selection of vintage pieces– Belstaff, Barbour, Lewis Leather and handmade English shoes from Trickers, Cheaney and Edward Green. Furthermore, there’s also selected Nike and Adidas, vintage SPW pieces and Kenneth Mackenzie's 6876.
