Contemporary menswear label Our Legacy’s latest venture in London’s bustling Soho district is their first flagship store outside of Sweden. Located on Silver Place, a tranquil pedestrianised side-street that links Lexington Street with Ingestre Place, the Our Legacy Store finds itself in good company with the likes of Albam, Sunspel, Supreme, YMC and Oliver Spencer on neighbouring streets. Founded in 2005 by friends Messrs Christopher Nying and Jockum Hallin, Our Legacy has gained international acclaim for its menswear collections, defined by their romantic approach to modern yet timeless classics.
Keeping their loyal following intrigued by introducing statement pieces to sit alongside their refined essentials each season, the Our Legacy team dedicate a lot of their time developing their own fabrics, making all their denim in Italy and the rest of the collection in Portugal. The Our Legacy design philosophy doesn’t cease at the collection, the store itself must represent the clothing and by making simple materials look more than they are the space encompasses the brands DNA.
Corresponding with their Scandinavian-based outposts in Stockholm and Gothenburg, the London store presents the latest Our Legacy collection of elevated basics and fashion-forward statement pieces. Our Legacy’s fondness to experiment with fabrics, textures and dying techniques are an important part to the brands success; their fearless design approach never risks entering the territory of over-designing but results in hybrid pieces such as a suede shirt with a zip or suit trousers with an elasticated waist.
Designed by Stockholm-based architecture practice Arrhov Frick who previously completed the Our Legacy Scandinavian stores, the 40 m2 space has been designed to create a sophisticated shopping experience with the use of elegant materials; stainless steel, glass, concrete and a resin-covered floor offer an industrial sense of place. Outside, a bold neon ‘Our Legacy’ sign acts as a beacon for the store’s entrance and is inspired by the Soho’s red light district history and plethora of sex shops.
