Located in Stockholm’s Södermalm district, Papercut is a treasure trove of film, music and publications covering art, design, music, film, fashion and food. Co-owned by Alexander Dahlberg and Andreas Fryklund, Papercut opened in 2008 after the pair decided to combine their expertise (Dahlberg used to sell film and books and Fryklund worked at one of Stockholm’s biggest magazine stores) and open their own store.
With an extensive selection of imported and international titles, the collection ranges from the established (Monocle, Vogue, Vanity Fair, World of Interiors) to smaller independent titles (032c, Openhouse, Fin, Darius Magazine) as well as design-led titles such as Kinfolk and Cereal. The expansive nature of the magazine collection doesn't just end with printed material and the shelves are lined with a host of international film, music as well as cult classics and undiscovered band albums.
Inside, the store is cleverly laid out to ensure that all products are equally visible and as Fryklund explains ‘we thought the products themselves would make the best interior design’. Papercut also stocks many local titles such as Paper Light (photography/fashion), Darius (fashion), c/o Hops (beer culture), Contributor (fashion/art), Acne Paper (fashion). A must for any magazine fan, it is quite easy to spend a whole afternoon in here; once you've picked up a selection of reading material, swing by Drop Coffee and spend a sunny afternoon reading in nearby Mariatorget.
