Founded in 2002 by Danish Design School graduates Ditte Reckeweg and Jelena Schou Nordentoft, Stilleben is a perfectly formed design-led store with a unique selection of ceramics, textiles and handmade accessories from all over the world. With a focus on quality and craftsmanship, Ditte and Jelena present the products, materials and colours in a contemporary and neutral setting. The intimate store on Niels Hemmingsensgade stocks glass and ceramic homewares from several young up-and-coming Danish designers as well as classic Scandinavian porcelain.
Expect to find household basics such as cups, bowls and jugs presented in unconventional forms as well as reworked classics; on our visit we spotted Per Söderberg's Brass Lamp Table, originally custom designed for a private residence. The store is set over two floors with ceramics, handcrafted accessories and jewellery on the ground floor and graphic design, typography and illustration pieces housed upstairs.
Presenting a vast array of designers including Ally Capellino, Cecilia Forsberg, Julie Bonde, Society and LuckyBoySunday, Stilleben’s wares are selected for their committment to high quality materials and functional design. Friendly and knowledgeable staff are on hand to advise and explain each story behind handcrafted pieces and in 2006, Stilleben launched its highly anticipated webshop, an extension of the bricks and mortar store.
