Bringing the outside in, The Garden at FACT is a leafy and peaceful sanctuary set back from Liverpool's busy Bold Street. Opened in March 2013, The Garden is a collaborative partnership between Liverpool's FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) and independent teashop LEAF. The light and airy space acts as an indoor courtyard to one of the UK’s leading media arts centres and features natural wood picnic benches and even a wheelbarrow filled with plants.
Serving breakfast, lunch and light evening meals, The Garden focuses on locally sourced fresh food and offers a simple vegetarian based menu of sandwiches, soups, salads and pasta. The handwritten blackboards display daily specials alongside LEAF's signature array of fairtrade loose-leaf teas from across the world, served in glass tea pots.
The Garden's earthy interior was designed by Liverpool design agency SB Studio who kept the space fresh by combining natural colours with untreated materials. Herb plant pots and candles are dotted around the tables and the fresh flowers at the counter, combined with floor to ceiling windows, create a greenhouse-like space, enjoyable on long summer evenings.
The Garden is also host to monthly events and social meetings, check the website for more details.
