Running through Marylebone is Chiltern Street, a Victorian thoroughfare that following a three-year regeneration programme has became an established yet relaxed destination for specialist shopping. The street's distinctive and historic character can still be seen through rows of red brick frontages and a Grade II listed Victorian fire station that is now home to Chiltern Firehouse, a boutique hotel and restaurant by hotelier André Balazs. The row of niche shops along the street include names such as Sunspel, Cadenhead's Whisky Shop & Tasting Room, Howarth of London and Trunk, an internationally acclaimed premium menswear store.

Located at no. 8 Chiltern Street, Trunk presents an international collection of menswear and accessories from Japan, Italy, US, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Founded by Swedish-born Mats Klingberg, who boasts a host of various qualifications from across the world (Master of Science in Business and Economics from Sweden, Fashion Merchandising Management qualification from the US and a Hotel Management qualification from Switzerland) Trunk opened in September 2010.

After realising that London's menswear scene was missing something, Klingberg set out to present modern classics of the highest quality with a focus on timeless pieces rather than trend-led design. Trunk's 70sqm store stocks an impeccable selection of small, unknown and distinguished menswear labels including Boglioli, Beams+, Incotex, Mackintosh and Engineered Garments both in store and online.

Inside, Trunk is set over two floors in a light, airy and inviting space that makes the most of the narrow yet comfortable space. The store was designed by Klingberg and remains sympathetic to the building's original features; the parquet floor and traditional fireplace is further complemented by minimalist natural wood furnishings and a neutral colour palette.

The majority of the European brands reside on the ground floor and downstairs you can find a strong Japanese selection of labels. Trunk's edit of labels include many previously unseen in the capital such as Alden, Böle, Common Projects as well as an ongoing collaboration with Japanese accessories makers Porter and Tabio. Trunk's friendly and knowledgeable staff are attentive and able to assist the most selective of buyers.
