A culinary hybrid, Usine operates as a bar, café, restaurant, gallery and conference area in a former sausage factory. Located in Stockholm’s Södermalm neighbourhood, the Usine concept consists of Restaurant Bistro 38, Bar Poche 36, café, reception and conference spaces.
Conceived by restaurateurs Tim Karlsson, Michael Andreasson and designer Richard Lindvall, Usine's extensive renovations took a year to transform the 2000 square meter space, previously used by the Swedish Tax Agency and consisted of a maze of tiny meeting rooms.
Inside, Lindvall has successfully created a stylish yet relaxed atmosphere using high quality materials, selected to last the test of time. The use of maple wood custom millwork, cognac leather upholstery, concrete, galvanized steel, white tiles and black iron have proved a winning combination. Orange and brown Valcromat was used as an accent colour for the table tops, side tables, cabinet doors and menus while olive plants scattered throughout the space soften the atmosphere.
Restaurant Bistro 38 includes maple and marble tables, classic bistro chairs and industrial pendant lighting. In the corner of restaurant is a orangery, using old garden furniture and house plants to offer a botanical sanctuary within Usine.
Usine's brand identity comes compliments of Serhat Ferhat of Stockholm-based design agency Studio Dare.
