London-based ERKN Footwear is the brainchild of Bournemouth graduated Elliott Erkan and we're looking forward to getting our hands on the Spring/Summer 2016 collection. Handmade in Italy using the finest leathers from the likes of the Carli leather tannery, the tightly-edited collection features three silhouettes understandably titled 001, 002 and 003 representing their order of conception. The use of premium leather, old-world Italian craft techniques and traditional dyeing techniques makes ERKN Footwear one to watch.

Ronnie Northampton is the label from footwear design graduate and Northampton local, Kirsty Ronnie. After graduating in 2014, Ronnie launched her first impressive collection of handcrafted women’s Goodyear welted shoes inspired by the traditional shoemaking industry of her hometown that dates back to the 15^th century.

The collection consists of seven pairs of shoes, each named after an influential figure in Ronnie’s life (‘Miriam’, pictured). The unique designs incorporate elements of that person’s favourite shoes or pastimes- ‘Minnie’ for example has a silver T-bar inlay that was a feature on her great-grandmother's dancing shoes.

Northamptonshire footwear factories John Lobb, Cheaney, Churchs and Trickers have manufactured samples but now Ronnie Northampton’s Kickstarter page is raising funds for full production that will breathe life back into the local footwear industry. To support the page, donate here .

Marathon Trail Trainers by Spalwart | Stockholm (SWE)

Stockholm based shoemaker Spalwart was born shortly after the company's founders found a vintage 1950s piece of machinary complete with moulds on a trip to Eastern Europe. Using traditional and contemporary modes of production, Stalwart have gained a loyal international following and are particularly popular in Japan.

By employing long forgotton traditional techniques to create truly unique products, the highlight of Spalwart's collection is their Marathon Trail sneaker. A stylish and graceful pair, the shoes are crafted from suede and airbag materials and feature rubber soles and heavy cotton laces.

Alden Indy Work Boot for The Bureau | Belfast (IRE)

Founded in 1884 by Charles H. Alden in Middleborough, Massachusetts, The Alden Shoe Company specialise in handcrafted men’s leather boots and dress shoes. In 2012, the American shoemaker collaborated with Belfast based clothier The Bureau and this relationship has produced some strong pieces, in particular this season's Indy Work Boot. Crafted with a beautiful snuff suede upper and a glover leather lining, this authentic work boot stands out for its timeless design and craftsmanship.

Red Wing Foreman Shoes (8057) | Minnesota (USA)

The Red Wing Foreman is an Oxford shoe designed to suit both the office and work floor. Offering sturdy protection, the Foreman appears casual but means business and is crafted from premium Hawthorne Abilene leather. The shoe also features a Neoprene Cushion Sole constructed using the Goodyear Welt.
