Travel Photography: Reuben Wu | Yucatán (MEX) | By Michael Gannon

I’ve been a big fan of Liverpool-born photographer, film-maker and music producer Reuben Wu for quite some time. A man of many talents, Reuben is a co-founder of the successful electronic band Ladytron but nowadays spends his time traveling to distant places to capture the remoteness and dynamism of the area. Describing his photography in his own words;

"In my visual work, I am driven not just by the urge to create imagery, but by a desire to explore new places as if they were unknown territory, constantly open to serendipity and with an eye for the unnoticed and the hidden. Photographs, like music, can create an echo of a time and a place. To me, my images are more than pictures. They are fragments of memory and imagination."

The photographs featured in this week's update are taken around Yucatán, Mexico, using his Sony A7Rll, DJI Phantom 4 Pro and an iPhone 7 Plus. Talking to Reuben he explains how his approach is “always prepare as much as possible and explore new insights”. We are excited to hear where his next trip will take him, he tells me “possibly Oregon or the Northwest territories”, watch this space.
