Made by Tung | Tung Toronto Maps | Toronto (US) | By Lee Fleming

We’ve been admiring the work of Tung for a while; the Toronto-based studio specialises in graphic design and art direction within the fields of art, culture and commerce. Founded in 2014 by Emily Tu and Edmond Ng, Tung’s grounded and considered approach to design has resulted in an impressive client list which includes Mjolk, Radio and Ben Weeks.

Part of the Tung portfolio includes these beautifully designed maps; a series of abstracted maps that reimagines Toronto’s diverse neighbourhoods as vibrant, quilt-like mosaics. Designed as promotional tool for the studio, each map was personalised with a fluorescent dot denoting the location of its recipient.

Nerhol - Index | Foam | Amsterdam (NLD) | By Lee Fleming

Amsterdam-based Foam present the first international exhibition of Nerhol, a successful Japanese artist unit who explores the concept of the photographic portrait. Founded in 2007, Nerhol is a collaboration between graphic designer Yoshihisa Tanaka and the sculptor Ryuta Iida. Together the duo combines photographic and sculptural techniques to reveal a complexity that photography usually obscures.

The Nerhol – Index exhibition features layered portraits of a single subject photographed for the duration of several minutes. The process involves 200 images, which then are printed, bound and then sheared off, layer by layer, to produce the final, dizzying portrait.

The Nerhol – Index exhibition runs until Sunday 21st June and has been made possible by Van Bijleveltstichting and The Japan Foundation. To read more visit the Foam website where you can also purchase the Nerhol – Phase of Everything book.

Story mfg. | London (UK) | By Lee Fleming

We're been observing English denim label Story Mfg. since it's inception earlier this year. Founded by partners Katy Katazome and Bobbin Threadbare, Story mfg. strives to re-wild traditional craftsmanship with a focus on slow manufacturing and season-less products. Their 'Slow made' philosophy isn't for the impatient, opting to use extremely slow processes including using hand picked cotton, hank dyed yarn and hand loomed denim to create their timeless collection.

Inspired by the past with vintage influences, the Story Mfg. Collection includes the 0 Jean (classic five pocket jean) , time jacket (pre-1950s prison issue jacket) and beautiful eyewear made from 100% cotton acetate.

View the Story Mfg. collection on their website or visit their floating workshop based along the London canals.

"In A Lonely Place | Marc Tan | Singapore, (SIN) | By Lee Fleming

“In A Lonely Place” is a 44-page zine by Singapore-born photographer Marc Tan, whom having spent his adolescent years in Adelaide and Melbourne (Australia), graduated from JMC Academy (Melbourne) with a Audio Engineering degree before returning to Singapore in 2013 to continue his self-development as a full-time photographer. Alongside his commercial projects, Tan released his latest personal endeavour “In A Lonely Place” in March, 2015.

Set in Hong Kong, “In A Lonely Place” explores the darker side of the relationship between that of man and his environment. From the cold and unforgiving angles of the city’s architecture to the piercing eyes of faces otherwise void of expression, take a glimpse into the everyday lives of the people of the city through a lens.

To read more about “In A Lonely Place” visit Tan’s website and check out his Tumblr.
