AuthaGraph World Map | Hajime Narukawa | Kanagawa (JAP) | By Lee Fleming

We recently came across the AuthaGraph world map, designed by Japanese architect Hajime Narukawa. Having broken the planet into 96 equal parts, Narukawa combined different projections of the Earth to create a globe-like tetrahedron that unpacks into a rectangular map. The AuthaGraph world map displays shape and size with the precision of the Dymaxion map, but remains rectangular, just like the Mercator.

I made the decision to move to a new city to take on a new challenge and enhance my photography. That city is Buenos Aires, Argentina. I find travel photography has a unique ability to transport people from their daily lives. I certainly feel more aware of my surroundings when I am in a new city, (as I’m sure most photographers do). The uncertainty of things, the mystery of it all and countless unrepeatable, fleeting scenarios of people in their environment, their gestures, their poses. Alongside preparing our next IDMC° Map of the Argentinian Capital we'll be corresponding on our daily experiences.

The recently opened 26 Grains is the brainchild of 26-year-old porridge enthusiast Alex Hely-Hutchinson whom having spent a year studying in Copenhagen has introduced London to a wholehearted approach towards oat cuisine. The philosophy behind 26 Grains is rooted in quality, simplicity and seasonality to deliver a delicious menu of grain based dishes.

26 Grains takes inspiration from Scandinavian cooking traditions, in particular the concept ‘Hygge’ which translated suggests a sense of cosiness best describes atmosphere in 26 Grains. Initially starting as a pop-up stall at Old Street Station, 26 Grains latest location can be found in Neal’s Yard in the heart of Covent Garden, central London. London-based design firm Block1 were tasked with creating a Nordic influenced interior that would provide a fitting backdrop for 26 Grains wholesome grain-based dishes. The stripped-back palette of natural woods, clean marble and rough rendered walls creates a warm Scandinavian aesthetic.

Isle of Arran | Arran (SCO) | By Michael Gannon

The images above were taken during the third week of my visit to Scotland, in particular the Isle of Arran. On arrival I had the pleasure of meeting Stephen and his wife Debbie who were kind enough to take me around the island for a few hours in their car. Even with some stormy weather to contend with, I was taken back by how visually stunning the landscape was.
