Manchester-based graphic designer and photographer Jamie Martin’s final major project recently caught our eye when we came across it on his Instagram. Jamie has recently completed degree in Graphic Arts & Design at Manchester Metropolitan University and for his final project he photographed derelict buildings all around Manchester. Inspired by a Charles Dickens verse from the Hard Times book, the images were put into a full screenprinted A3 publication using charcoal coloured ink and presented unbound in a wallet.

The Northern Sky Map by Stellavie | Hamburg (GER)

Beautifully illustrated and printed, The Northern Sky Map by Steffen Heidemann and Viktoria Klein of Hamburg based design studio Stellavie depicts the northern sky and its constellations. The map is one-colour silkscreen printed using custom mixed inks on a solid-coloured Gmund Colour System and 200gm2 premium paper stock. With a limited edition run of only 500, each map is numbered and signed.

Tusk Journal Vol. 0 | Manchester (UK)

The latest in printed matter we have taken note of and look forward to reading is the debut publication by Manchester based Tusk Journal. Initially only to be found online, Tusk Journal who celebrate the best of a contemporary independent culture in the North West of England can now be enjoyed in printed form.

The highly commended free publication which can be found in Liverpool and Manchester’s finest cafes, art houses and clothing shops is occupies on-the-pulse articles and interviews with some of Tusk Journals “favourite movers and shakers in the North West”. Covering an array of cultural content, Volume 0 includes British alternative rock/pop band Everything Everything, Manchester’s The Warehouse Project and Channel 4’s ‘Utopia’.

After a successful Kickstarter, Manchester based Intern Magazine presents Issue One (144 pages, perfect bound 240mm x 170mm), featuring work from Vincy Cheung, Jack Taylor, Lauren Murphy and Paul Phung. A learned perspective comes courtesy of Mike Perry, James Victore and Tim Lindsay among others.
