We recently received good news from our friends at Singapore-based Foreign Policy Design that they are re-issuing their Brand Guide: Singapore Edition after overwhelming success since its initial launch. The design strategy and think tank bureau founded by Creative Director Yah-Leng Yu and Brand & Business Strategist Arthur Chin continue to champion Singapore's independent scene by capturing the brand secrets of 17 Singaporean contemporary brands in this beautifully designed book.

The Brand Guide: Singapore Edition Kickstarter is one to consider, the well-designed publication documents some of the most progressive Singapore brands and celebrates the visionaries and designers behind them. Designed as a dossier with 5 booklets & various inserts, it's filled with takeaways and anecdotes capturing the vision to fruition of each brands owner along with a foreward by Armin Vit (UnderConsideration).

Honda: Great Journey | Map Project Office | London (UK) | By Lee Fleming

London's strategy-based industrial design consultancy Map Project Office (MAP), founded in 2012 by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby with Design Director Jon Marshall have recently worked with Creative Director Morihiro Harano to imagine future vehicles for Honda that use their latest technology and capture the spirit of the brand.

Aptly titled 'Great Journey', the collaborative project looks to imagine a comfortable and modern exploration of the planet. Human beings are instinctively mobile. We can trace our roots to the continent of Africa, where, millions of years ago, our ancestors began what archaeologist Brian M. Fagan calls "The Great Journey." It was a migration north into Europe, across Asia, and on to North and South America. A journey of over 50,000 kilometers.

The goal of the Great Journey project is to reimagine this journey, and propose how it could be made today using the latest technologies for human mobility. It was conceived as a journey of adventure that would also allow for the development of prototype vehicles that could travel virtually anywhere on the planet. Mori and MAP identified that travelling through grass plains, deserts, mountains, sea, snow and jungle couldn't be achieved by one vehicle without compromises to comfort and pleasure. Instead the journey was separated into seven stages with respective vehicles for each; allowing Mori and MAP to tailor vehicle design for each terrain and consider the needs of the environment for pleasurable travel and living. Models were made by Letchworth-based Ogle Models brought the project's designs to life while Petr Krejci helped create film sets representing the terrains.

Avaunt Magazine | Issue Three | London (UK) | By Lee Fleming

We recently got our hands on the latest issue of Avaunt Magazine, created by Port Magazine founders Dan Crowe and Matt Willey alongside polar explorer Ben Saunders, Avaunt is a bi-annual publication that focuses on adventure and innovation at the forefront of its internationally sourced content.

Issue Three features Russia's first woman in space Valentina Tereshkova, Budapest’s Honved Fencing Club and Tara Isabella Burton profile's the itinerant and inspirational Devi Asmadiredja, who has forged an astonishing life in a remote part of the Caucasus mountains. This issue also includes breath-taking photography by Joseph Ford, Nick Ballon and Frederic Lagrange who travelled to Western Mongolia to profile the Kazakh eagle hunters.

Moscow Metro | Tomer Ifrah | Moscow (RUS) | By Lee Fleming

While travelling on our research trips the IDMC° team are regularly utilise a cities transport system and are always intrigued how each differ. Hence our attraction to Tomer Ifrah's documentary photography of the Moscow metro. Irsael-born Ifrah began photographing documentary stories in 2007, after his first trip to Ethiopia and has continued to focus on documentary photography and addressing social issues and daily life stories. Taken between 2012 and 2014, Ifrah made several trips to Russia documenting Moscow’s metro stations which features stunning lighting, Moscow's style of dress and post-Soviet symbols everywhere. It's an original perspective of daily life in Moscow that we haven't been fortunate enough to see for ourselves, yet.

Berlin-Dahlem Botanical Garden and Botanical Museum | Berlin (GER) | By Michael Gannon

A friend of mine who lives in Berlin recommended that I should head to the the Berlin-Dahlem Botanical Garden and Botanical Museum near König-Louise-Stra. I arrived around 1pm, the light was perfect especially around the Pavilion Victoria and Cactus Pavilion. Although I did run into a problem with my lens steaming up due to the 30º temperatures within the Great Pavilion, it was still definitely worth the capturing the tropic environment.
